Gmail and Google Calendar

Connect your Google account so Sadeh can answer questions about your email and schedule, and send or book things after you approve them.

Connect Gmail and Google Calendar in about a minuteClick the highlighted spot to move to the next step.

Before you start

You need a Google account with Gmail or Google Calendar, either a personal Gmail account or a Google Workspace account from your company. Gmail and Google Calendar are personal connections: each person connects their own account, and nobody else in your workspace can use it.

Connect Gmail

  1. In Sadeh, click Gmail. On your first visit the chat offers it as a button. Later you can find it under Integrations.
  2. A Google window opens. Choose your account. Google may say it hasn't verified the app and may show the app's previous name, because Sadeh's Google review isn't complete yet. Keep every permission selected and click Continue. Your Google password stays with Google; Sadeh never sees it.
  3. The window closes and Gmail shows as connected. In the chat, the Gmail button turns green and Sadeh suggests a few questions to try. On Integrations, you see a green Gmail is connected. message and the card's button changes to Disconnect.

If no window opens

Your browser may have blocked the pop-up. Sadeh then opens Google in the same tab. When you finish, click Continue in Sadeh to return.

Permissions and company accounts

If you untick a permission, the Sadeh features that need it won't work until you reconnect. If your company only allows approved apps, your Google Workspace administrator can allow Sadeh.

Connect Google Calendar

Click Google Calendar and follow the same steps. You can use the same Google account or a different one.

What Sadeh can do

Reading never needs your approval. Sadeh searches and reads what it needs to answer you.

With Right away After you approve
Gmail Search and read email and threads, list labels and filters, tidy your inbox and save drafts Send, reply and forward email, move email to Trash, create or delete filters, turn a vacation reply on or off
Google Calendar Read events, search them and check when you're free Create, update or cancel events, and reply to invitations

When Sadeh needs your approval, it shows a review card with the details, such as the recipient, subject and text of an email, and waits for you to approve or cancel.

Tidying your inbox

Tidying changes run as soon as you ask, even on many emails at once. These include adding or removing a label, archiving, starring, marking as read or unread, saving a draft, and creating, renaming or deleting a label. Deleting a label removes it from its emails but keeps the emails. Sending, replying, forwarding, moving email to Trash, filters and vacation replies wait for your approval, unless you chose Always allow for that kind of action.

Permissions Sadeh asks Google for

Connection Permission Used for
Gmail gmail.readonly Searching and reading your email
Gmail gmail.send Sending the emails, replies and forwards you approve
Gmail gmail.modify Labels, archive, read or unread, drafts and Trash
Gmail gmail.settings.basic Vacation replies and filters you approve
Google Calendar calendar Reading your schedule and changing events you approve
Both openid, email, profile Confirming which Google account you connected, so Sadeh keeps using that same account

Disconnect

Open Integrations and click Disconnect on Gmail or Google Calendar. Sadeh stops using that account right away. Disconnecting doesn't withdraw the permission you gave Google, so to remove it completely, also remove the app in your Google Account under Security > Your connections to third-party apps & services. It may still be listed under its previous name.
